Create a server with the Kitura macOS app

The Kitura macOS app provides a user interface (UI) cover for the Kitura CLI. This option is designed for those who wish to avoid using the command line to create a simple cloud ready Kitura project.

Step 1: Download the macOS app

To download the macOS app click the button below:

Step 2: Install macOS app

Once the download has completed open kitura.dmg.

When the User Interface appears drag the Kitura icon into your applications folder:

Open the macOS Finder and find Kitura in the Applications folder.

When you first launch the app you may need to open it via the following:

  1. Right click on the Kitura application
  2. Select Open from the list

You will only need to open the app once this way. In future you can double-click as normal.

Upon opening the app you should see the following screen:

Step 3: Create project

Open Kitura from the Applications folder.

Hover over the Starter tile and click Create:

Enter the following for Project Name and Where:

The following guides will assume you've chosen the above destination and name.

However you can use whatever destination and name you'd like, just substitute those in throughout the rest of the guides.

Once you click Create the app will create and build your project. It will also generate you an Xcode project.

The generated project contains a Swift 5.0 Package.swift file.
